This Friday, the museum will be partnering with OU Student Life to celebrate the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). Day of the Dead is a holiday recognized in numerous Latin American countries and communities that celebrates the lives of friends and family who have passed away.
The Day of the Dead street festival brings together food, music and art along with remembrance altars, live performances and hands-on art activities for an exciting celebration. The festival will take place Friday, November 1, from 6 to 10 p.m. on the lawn of the museum, and you are invited to join us—especially if you wear a Halloween or Day of the Dead costume!
With the Day of the Dead upon us, we want to celebrate early by sharing this unique work inspired by the holiday. Can you tell what medium the artist used to create this piece? Comment below!
